What-to-Wear | Maternity

Welcome to the first, bi-monthly What-to-Wear post!  Dressing for our next photo-shoot need not require you buying a new wardrobe; many times, you can re-purpose existing outfits and layer them with new accessories to create new, timeless looks. In this week’s edition of What-to-Wear, we’re featuring Maternity fashion.

Expectant moms tend to have the most difficulty when dressing their changing bodies, but luckily, modern fashion has given new moms great fashion choices. One local store in particular, The Bump-Maternity Boutique, does a fabulous job in helping new moms feel fashionable. Clair, owner of The Bump-Maternity Boutique in Fort Mill, SC, says,

“we shop for designs that are created to make a mom-to-be feel as beautiful as she looks.  It’s time to show off your bump!”

This outfit is perfect for a mommy-to-be. The Olian Maternity Khaki Wrap Sweater, with hood, offers a casual appearance along with rich detailing; the hood provides an added layer that is ideal for picking out clothing for your next photo-shoot. The Bump-Maternity Boutique, also offers these beautiful Three Seasons Straight-Leg Maternity Pant; a dark-wash pant with modern stitching and a very comfortable knit panel, that takes you throughout your pregnancy for only $49…I’d say that’s a STEAL!

In efforts to remain transparent, I am not pregnant, and do not intend to be for many years, but sometimes I wish for a pair of jeans with a knit waist–especially after the Holidays—yikes! So Clair, I might be coming to see you;) Laugh as you might like, but you know that you’ve considered too!

Contact The Bump today and ask about either of these great deals:

The Bump Maternity Boutique is located 10 minutes South of Charlotte, NC in Baxter Town Center

My good friend Shannon is the most fabulous Stella & Dot consultant I know, and when she heard about this blog post and the great clothing pieces from Clair at The Bump, she immediately knew the perfect accessories to give this outfit a pop of color & texture.

So without further a-do, I’d like to introduce the CAMPARI NECKLACE by Stella & Dot:

The Lovely Lisa | Rock Hill, SC

Friday, I had the pleasure of photographing a long-time family friend, Lisa.  I think she looks a little like Elizabeth Taylor, but at any rate, she’s stunning!

The Mona Lisa

That Mona Lisa Smile...

Lisa was a real joy to work with on Friday. She’s a student at Converse College; she’s double majoring in Psychology & Theater.  Oh, did you already gather that she has amazing style?! Uh yea!

As a photographer, I study people. During each session, I pick up on the details that characterize people. One of my favorite things about Lisa was the quirky little smirk that starts in her eyes and ends with the twitch of her cheek. <– <3 it:)

Marshall Family

Happy Holidays!

This Sunday, I had the opportunity to meet the amazing Marshall family. Frank, Paige and the girls were a delight to work with. We discussed outfit choices that would work best, and Paige did an excellent job pulling them all together.

My assistant, Mayci, and I pulled out lots of props/games so that the girls would be more relaxed when it was their turns for their individual pictures.

On Black Friday, I met the Harty’s for some family portraits here in Rock Hill. I’ve known Kelly & the kids since Parker, the youngest, was only a few months old. And correction, I’ve known them since Hunter–the handsome young man– was a baby. It was a real pleasure to get together with them and take these awesome pictures. They’re all growing up way too fast!

Mackey Family

Meet Walker, Elliott, Thomas, and Coleman.

Family Session

Mackey Gentlemen

These guys were awesome! We took a drive out the country for this session. The three youngest played a little football, while Walker helped his mom and me set the scene. Honestly, I was nervous because it had been so overcast all day, but praise be, because the sun could not have been any more prefect Saturday afternoon when we arrived on location!

Big thanks to all four of you Mackey gentlemen for helping out and being such awesome models! Check out more images on Facebook in the coming days.

Davis | Claire’s 1st Christmas

Claire's 1st Christmas

Sweet Baby Claire's 1st Christmas

Merry Christmas, Davis family! Thank you for letting me come into your home and help you celebrate Claire’s first Christmas.

Thanks to John, we set up a backdrop complete with white Christmas lights and a hidden boppie and let Claire lose herself in all of the sparkly lights. She was more interested in eating them after the first 5 minutes than looking at any of the 4 crazy people, who were trying to get her attention. Even her dearest Mr. Panda did not do much to make her look in my general direction.

It has been a pleasure to watch your family grow over the past year and I look forward to watching you grow in the years to come!

1 Hour Sessions are $75; there are plenty of openings left, contact me today to schedule your Christmas portraits: stefanie.m.morris@gmail.com

Brooke | Cheraw Braves Senior | Class of 2012

Perfect weather + The most beautiful Senior, to date + My favorite place on earth, Cheraw = The Best Senior Session:)

Early Sunday morning, my assistant Mayci and I packed up the car, coffee in hand, and drove East to the land that I love, Cheraw, SC! (Let me hear a Whoop-Whoop for the 29520.) First, we drove out and enjoyed some of the best fried chicken ever from Yogi Bear Chicken in Hartsville; then, we stopped in Florence, SC and took some precious pictures of baby Claire and her sweet family (post to follow:)). Once we had our mini-set packed back up–thank you John, we went into Cheraw and set up our sets on my family’s land in Brocks Mill.

Our senior, Brooke wanted a vintage inspired shoot full of props, brightly colored fall leaves, and a red barn. “Something different,” she said. And luckily, Brook and I had similar ideas; Mayci & I brought suitcases, a set of lawn chairs and a table, an Eastlake chair, linens, cameras, and much more.

Custom Senior Session

Class of 2012

She’s gorgeous, she knew exactly how to pose, and she has a great down to earth personality. Brooke agreed to do a little interview for me; you’ll see what I mean:) See what she had to say about herself, in response to these questions, below.

1. What’s your worst habit?

I worry way to much.

2. Who is/are your role model/s?

Dont really have one :/

3. Right now, I want to be …

In college studying nursing and pharmacy.

4. 5 random facts about you:
I’m from Louisiana. I would love to model. I love sunny days. I love school. I love to play golf.
5. Your favorite quote. And/Or favorite song and why.

“You choose your own mood and I’m going to choose to be the happiest person ever.” I love this quote because I feel like other people determine my moods, when it is actually me.

Brooke, I hope you enjoy your pictures, as much as I enjoyed my time with you.
