Miles for Marines

All of the pictures from Miles from Marines are posted. It was a great pleasure to be apart of something so much larger! LCpl Kyle Carpenter attended the event two days after undergoing surgery in Bethesda, MD, for some injuries he sustained in the direct blast  in November 2010, while serving overseas. One of the organizers, Theresa McKenrick was awarded Home Town Hero for her efforts in raising money for the Semper Fi Fund. Enjoy the pictures!

Inspiration

Over the past several months, I’ve slowly but surely taken over the our guest bedroom. Last night, I conquered it! This ADD/ADHD photographer must have assigned place to do work. So I bought orange curtains, because that’s the color that is supposed to inspire thinking, and found a fabulous Jodi Fuchs painting (which I ordered as a print), and bought lots of organizing bins (because I’m OCD that way). The sewing form, aka “the lady”, is there because I sew. Sewing’s something that both releases frustration for me & incites it. I find inspiration in lots of places & now I’ll find in in this new space:)

And the end result (please excuse the photograph as it was taken with the Blackberry):

Miles for Marines

Recently, Theresa McKendick, approached me about photographing a local race called Miles for Marines & I couldn’t be more honored to do so! Happening next Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 8am at Westminster Park, “Miles for Marines is a “Crucible 15K” and “Double-Time 5K” trail race that is being held in honor
of all who have served with the U.S. Marine Corps.”

The Miles for Marines team is proud to honor LCpl Kyle Carpenter during their 3rd Annual Race, as he has and is overcoming serious injuries sustained in November 2010 during his tour of duty in Afghanistan. Read his story here.

All money from the race goes to the Semper Fi Fund, which is a nonprofit set up to help cover the immediate expenses of seriously injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces. The courses are set up on trails that the Miles for Marines team hopes will remind runners of” the  discipline, self-sacrifice and rigorous training that Marines endure in effort to better serve our nation and keep us safe.”

Please pre-register, but if you must, registration will open up from 6am until 7am on Saturday, June 25th, 2011.  You can find Registration information on this link & copied below:

for speed. The route offers many physical challenges, rough terrain and the
beautiful scenery of the park. Includes event T-shirt with

“Run for a Marine, 1 Mile”

This gentle one mile event is for ages 10 and under. An excellent
way for little ones to pay tribute to those serving and send a special greeting
to an injured Marine at Walter Reed. ***Includes event T-shirt with
pre-registration. For more information on pre-registration, see “WHAT IS
PRE-REGISTRATION” on the “General Info” page.

Check out the links for more information! Pictures from the event will be accessible from this link. I hope to see you there.

Let’s Hear it for the Boys

iheartfacesThis wonderful website that I love, www.iheartfaces.com, hosts weekly challenges, and seeing that it was Father’s Day on Sunday, they’re calling this week’s challenge “Let’s Hear it for the Boys.” This is one of my favorite images of these two cuties from the Graham’s session–and oh-so appropriate for this challenge, as Jen presented these pictures to Randy on Father’s Day. Enjoy:)

Sara Margaret

Sara Margaret came home a couple of weeks ago, and we decided to go out on an impromptu photoshoot around Rock Hill. This kid loves the camera, and the camera happens to love her just as much:)

Check out the whole album over on Facebook.
