Recently, Theresa McKendick, approached me about photographing a local race called Miles for Marines & I couldn’t be more honored to do so! Happening next Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 8am at Westminster Park, “Miles for Marines is a “Crucible 15K” and “Double-Time 5K” trail race that is being held in honor
of all who have served with the U.S. Marine Corps.”
The Miles for Marines team is proud to honor LCpl Kyle Carpenter during their 3rd Annual Race, as he has and is overcoming serious injuries sustained in November 2010 during his tour of duty in Afghanistan. Read his story here.
All money from the race goes to the Semper Fi Fund, which is a nonprofit set up to help cover the immediate expenses of seriously injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces. The courses are set up on trails that the Miles for Marines team hopes will remind runners of” the discipline, self-sacrifice and rigorous training that Marines endure in effort to better serve our nation and keep us safe.”
Please pre-register, but if you must, registration will open up from 6am until 7am on Saturday, June 25th, 2011. You can find Registration information on this link & copied below:
TRAIL RUNNING
EVENTS
“Crucible 15K”
The Crucible is the
final challenge for the recruit and ends with a 15K march. Our course is
designed to simulate that culminating event, testing physical toughness and
mental agility. Includes event T-shirt with pre-registration.
“Double-Time 5K”
Our Double-Time course is designed for those runners with the need
for speed. The route offers many physical challenges, rough terrain and the
beautiful scenery of the park. Includes event T-shirt with
pre-registration.
“Run for a Marine, 1 Mile”
This gentle one mile event is for ages 10 and under. An excellent
way for little ones to pay tribute to those serving and send a special greeting
to an injured Marine at Walter Reed. ***Includes event T-shirt with
pre-registration. For more information on pre-registration, see “WHAT IS
PRE-REGISTRATION” on the “General Info” page.
Check out the links for more information! Pictures from the event will be accessible from this link. I hope to see you there.
