Holiday Special!

Introducing a very special, Holiday Special!

I had a tough time deciding who to give back to, so without further a do, drum roll please…. The Pilgrim’s Inn.

There are many deserving charities around the Upstate, but this is by far one of my favorites. I just happened to sit in the parking lot (waiting to drop off donations) last Christmas and found myself moved by the on-goings of a shelter that seems so small and yet serves so many souls. I am abundantly blessed! I go without nothing I need, and yet I know there are people who struggle to provide their families with basic necessities. This quote from Nobel Prize winner, George Bernard Shaw, sums up how I feel about that…

I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as
I live it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.
I want to be thoroughly used up when I die; for the harder I work, the more I live…Life is no “brief candle” to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.
-George Bernard Shaw

So what does the Pilgrim’s Inn do, who are they? Read this little excerpt from their blog:

Pilgrims Inn is a not-for-profit organization serving Rock Hill and surrounding communities of York County, SC. Individuals and families who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or are having trouble providing for their basic needs are helped.

In 1981 Tricia Kuhlkin founded Pilgrims Inn with a borrowed office, $200.00 in her pocket and a determination to help those in need with an atmosphere of respect and genuine affection.

Today we have a large campus with multiple programs that provide immediate, emergency help for those who are hurting, and a system of ongoing support and guidance to help them create a more stable, independent future.

This Christmas, I invite you to join me in giving back to our community! As a reward, enjoy 25% OFF all family session fees when you make a valid donation to the Pilgrim’s Inn.

Senior Session

Cody Newsome, Cheraw Braves, Class of 202

Cheraw Braves, Class of 2012. Meet Cody Newsome. Cody was a trooper and passed each and every posing test with flying colors. As we met each other Cody expressed some disinterest in the whole process, but as we went location to location in Cheraw, South Carolina, he warmed up. Cody even played guitar for us…can we say Jimmy Buffet? I’m sure you can tell that he’s tall, but actually he’s 6’5”. We bantered back and forth about the 1’3″ he’s got on me.  And such is the reason I normally wear high heels:) He’s got a smile that stretches for miles; and bless it, he cannot keep a straight face. His personality is infectious and I so enjoyed spending the evening getting to know Cody!

ePs {Newborn Session}

ePs {Newborn Session} I

What can I say about baby Emma? She’s beautiful and spirited for starters!

It took us two sessions to get Emma’s cooperation. You just can’t tell a baby you’re on a schedule.

Long time friends, Meredith & Chris, welcomed baby Emma just 3 short weeks ago. These high school sweethearts are a great couple! Emma rounds out their family perfectly, for now anyway.

This image of Meredith snuggling with her sweet new addition just makes my heart warm; but this image of Chris so in love with his first little girl really is the melter to me.

So in Love

ePs {Newborn Session} II

As we wrapped up this session, I realized that we images that this family will have for generations to come, and that is the best feeling!

Check out some other images over on Facebook. Which image is your favorite?

Colby, sneak peek {Senior Session}

Colby {Senior Session}

Wednesday, I went out to Inman, South Carolina to do a senior session for Colby.  I was beyond pleased when his mom Michelle asked me to document the kick off of Colby’s senior year!  Colby’s one outstanding individual. First of all, he’s a man of very few words; and I mean very few words. He takes direction beautifully with nearly no complaints, except one time when he told me the pose I wanted looked “goofy” -hehe:) This Class of 2011 senior plays varsity tennis, is the oldest of five kids, and he barely cracked a smile at my crude jokes!

Once I arrived at their house, we pulled together several outfits. We quickly got into the car and drove to downtown Spartanburg, South Carolina. As I quickly scanned downtown for interesting backdrops, we found ourselves at the best graffiti wall, ever!

Dr. Seuss, Senior Session

The Cat in the Hat anyone?!

Don’t ask me what all of the graffiti says; also, don’t be offended if you find a curse word on the wall…I didn’t write it!

So after stalking down several picture perfect venues we ventured out to our family friend’s barn. There were fantastic bays in the field, little yellow weedy flowers blooming all over, all complete with a well worn barn!  This little girl on the left walked right up to me and followed me around like a puppy. Let us mention that Colby isn’t a fan of horses, poor guy!

Best wishes this year as you complete your high school career!

Colby, here’s to you:

Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!
